I made this simple chrome-extension, which blocks youtube-thumbnails & shorts. Nothing fancy.
Internally, it blocks network requests which are related to thumbnails.
Additionally, you can use "Clickbait Remover for YouTube" extension. It simply replaces the thumbnails with a snapshot of the video.
I think there is already an extension that does this, even though I can't seem to find it right now. But anyway, why would I give myself the ability to accidentally click on some of these videos? For me, the faces act as a filter to ignore them.
Let's completely remove them from your feed
SponsorBlock recommends Dearrow, but personally I didn’t try it yet (don’t have that much crap in my thumbnails).
I just checked it out and it's awesome ! It replaces clickbait thumbnails with a screen of the video and the title also
