I remember seeing clinical trials on this 20-30 years ago. Why is it different now? What happened to those trials?
These cures always end up requiring immunosuppressants, which make them a non starter for most type 1 diabetics.

Indeed. They’re going to need to be able to make this kind of therapy using the patient’s own stem cells if they want a market for it.
